In a world where art is diluted with plethora of “shovelware” creations, my art comes from years of well honed skills and developed palette. It is difficult to balance self-respect that allows one to create something that is notice-worthy and not starving to death because oftentimes things that makes the most bucks are not well thought and executed projects and rather moving assemble line products that are easy to recreate by the thousands.
Art that is difficult to perfect, painful to master and satisfying to share is on its last breath and greed has taken hold of vast majority of so-called “creators” out there. As shameful as it is, it can only be described as expected, as humans are by nature imperfect and faulty creatures. Generations of mediocrity going unnoticed or even glorified in the name of making the most amount of money has eroded the field itself to the point of people would laugh at your if you say things that would be considered a given years ago such as “Art is a live creature, it has a pulse and a breath.” But let’s be honest here, mocking things we don’t understand is the most fundamental defense mechanism. Whatever makes us feel better, right?
So where does this leave my personal art? Well I’m broke, hungry most of the time, cannot afford basics but I still have my skills that I’m proud of and my creations are as alive as I am. I hope you get to listen to my work at some point and like what I have to offer. If you don’t, that’s okay. At the end, I know I did what I thought to be quality work and since I’m not creating one mediocrity after another, even my bad works are still uniquely mine. Hope to meet you one day and have a happy life!
